Alonso wins The First Night Race Singapore Grand Prix :)

Fernando Alonso, the Formula One double world champion2 seasons ago drove superbly to win the first ever formula one night race at the first time Singapore Grand Prix !!! I know this post is a bit late, but if you guys did catches up with the race, you will have to agree with me how brilliant his performance is on Sunday. He has been superb over the weekend topping times in 2 practice sessions but could only managed to start from 15th on the grid due to his car's fuel mechanical problem. The first safety car introduction as a result of his team mate's crashed helped him the most while the 2nd time the safety car was out, he showed everyone why he is so in demand as a racer and that he still has the pedigree to be a champion if his car was in perfect set up.

It was almost 2 years since Renault last won the race back in 2006 when Alonso was with them, which of course won by Alonso and personally, it was Alonso's first win since joining back Renault. To be fair, no one ever give him a chance from 15th on the grid and even after the race, Alonso himself admitted that he can never imagine that he had won it and will need few days to sink in to the reality. Nico Rosberg took 2nd place and Lewis Hamilton took the final podium place and further extend his world championship lead to 7 points with 3 races to go.
It was certainly a bad day and one to forget for Ferrari. Starting from the pole position, Massa did great to open up a gap and was running away from the field when the first incident involving Nelson Piquet happened which brought out the safety car. After the pit lane open, both the Ferrari went into the pits and 'human error' caused Massa to drove off before the fuel nozzle was released causing him to drag the whole fuel pipe along the way. 2 to 3 pit crews were injured and by the time they managed to pull off the nozzle and the pipe, Massa rejoined in last position. He soon was penalised with a drive through penalty for dangerous release from pit lane and his race was effectively over by then and eventually finished 13th. Defending champion Kimi Raikonnen started from 3rd on the grid and was running in 5th position with 4 laps to go when he hit the kerb and lost control crashing to the barrier. After the race, he finally admitted that his chance for the title this year is over...

It's only 3 more races to go, Japan, China and finally Brazil...let's hope Ferrari will be back with a bang to shut out McLaren and more importantly shut out the arrogant Lewis Hamilton...haha :P

My oh My...US stocks tumbled !!!

Dow's almost 780-point decline was the largest one-day point drop ever for the index.

NEW YORK: Wall Street's worst fears came to pass Monday, when the government's financial rescue plan failed in Congress and stocks plunged precipitously - hurtling the Dow Jones industrials down nearly 7 percent. The almost 780-point decline was the largest one-day point drop ever for the index.

The percentage declines for the Standard & Poor's 500 and Nasdaq composite indexes were even larger. And credit markets, whose turmoil helped feed the stock market's angst, froze up further amid the growing belief that the country is headed into a spreading credit and economic crisis.
Stunned traders on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, their faces tense and mouths agape, watched on TV screens as the House voted down in midafternoon the administration's $700 billion plan to buy up distressed mortgage securities. Activity on the floor became frenetic as the "sell'' orders blew in. The Dow told the story of the market's despair. The blue chip index, dropped by hundreds of points in a matter of moments, and by the end of the day had passed by far its previous record for a one-day drop, 684.81, set in the first trading day after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

The selling was so intense that just 162 stocks rose on the NYSE - and 3,073 dropped. The Dow fell 777.68, or 6.98 percent, to 10,365.45. The decline also surpasses the 721.56-point intraday decline record also set during the first trading day after the terror attacks. Still, it was the 17th biggest percentage decline for the Dow and remained well below the more than 20 percent drops seen on Black Monday of October 1987 and the Depression.
Broader stock indicators also tumbled. The Standard & Poor's 500 index declined 106.85, or 8.81 percent, to 1,106.42. It was the S&P's largest-ever point drop and its biggest percentage loss since the Oct. 19, 1987, crash. The Nasdaq composite index fell 199.61, or 9.14 percent, to 1,983.73, the third worst percentage decline for the index. The Russell 2000 index of smaller companies fell 47.07, or 6.68 percent, to 657.72.

Rossi wins 2008 MotoGP Championship ...Hooray !!!

Valentino Rossi has won the 2008 MotoGP Championship with his 8th Grand Prix at the Motegi circuit this afternoon. Coming into this round, Rossi has a 87 points lead against 2007 defending champion Casey Stoner. Starting 4th from the grid, Rossi has made a relatively fine start to stay at 5th position after the first few corners behind Pedrosa, Stoner, Hayden and Lorenzo. Cutting his way one by one in his usual style, Rossi overtook Stoner for the lead on lap 14 and never looked back.
My favourite MotoGP idol eventually finished the race almost 2 seconds ahead of Stoner across the line while Pedrosa had to fend off Lorenzo to claim the last podium place at 3rd position. Hence, with only 3 races to go that offered 75 maximum points to the winners, Rossi with 92 points lead over Stoner currently will therefore claim back the MotoGP title he lost 2 years ago for his 6th MotoGP champion title and his 8th world title overall.
It was truly a moment to celebrate and the lad fully deserved the title. Even though he didn't won the title for 2006 and 2007, I never doubted him and will always admired his style and skills on the circuit. At 29, he might be the veteran compared to all those early 20s title rivals, but given the same bike with the same spec setting, I'm sure Rossi will come out top, VERY SURE !!! His Yamaha might not have the pace at the straight compared to Honda or the horse power of Ducati, but with Rossi's superb skills, Yahama stand on top of the engine manufacturer top of the pill for the constructor championship.
CONGRATS to Rossi !!! CONGRATS to Yamaha !!!

Attached above is the MotoGP championship standing after today's Motegi Japan Grand Prix with only 3 races to go. Next stop - Australian Grand Prix at Philip Island in 7 days time.

Free Raja Petra from ISA

Since the Home Ministry announced that Raja Petra or better known as RPK will be detained in Kamunting under the ISA for 2 years, there are many ongoing attempts by the NGOs to voice out their frustrations. Throughout the nation, they will be gatherings, talks and petition signings now and then to show their support for RPK as well as urging the government to abolish ISA and free RPK at once.

In Penang, we will Light A Candle Every Week in front of Dewan Sri Pinang every Friday from 19 Sep up till 17 October. Public members are urged to join this light a candle campaign to pressure the government and stand up for our rights. We must join force to let the government know that we are not stupid and they cannot just simply do what they want !!!

Formula 1 First Ever Night Race: Singapore Grand Prix this weekend !!!

It's finally here, Formula One's first ever night race at the newly added Singapore circuit to the grand prix calendar. I must say browsing through the internet for info and photos was really impressive. The lightings set up was said to be enough to light up 400 football fields. Everybody is anticipating for this race even though there are some parties voicing out the safety concerns regarding having the race at night.

This race really got everybody exciting about. Even the drivers are also gearing up for this one. The race itself will be just like the Monaco street circuit but will now instead racing through the busy street of Singapore with some breath taking views and background. (You can browse through or search on the internet for many pictures of the Singapore Grand Prix, it's very easy) No wonder the tickets have already been nearly sold out months ago. And coupled with the Championship race right down the wire now after FIA rejected McLaren's appeal on Belgium grand prix result 2 races ago, it's everything to race for come Singapore this weekend. I'm sure to glue to my seat in front of my TV for this....

Carling Cup 3rd Round Summary

Wow !!! My Arsenal young guns went rampant and trashed Sheffield United 6-0 this morning in the Carling Cup 3rd Round. The average age for the starting 11 is only 19, and Lukasz Fabianski was the captain for the night at 23 being the oldest...imagine that!!! Mexican striker Vela scored his hattrick added by a brace by Bendtner and one from Wilshere to complete the rout. I'm standing tall being their supporter...so proud of them :)

Below are the round up of other matches from the Carling Cup 3rd round played last night involving Premier League clubs from ESPN Soccernet:

Premier League sides West Ham and Fulham crashed out of the Carling Cup at the third-round stage at the hands of Football League opposition.

Gianfranco Zola's Hammers were sent packing by Watford at Vicarage Road as goalkeeper Jan Lastuvka missed a cross and the ball went in off Hayden Mullins for an own goal (70) as the Hornets triumphed 1-0.
It was the same scoreline at Turf Moor as a goal from substitute Jay Rodriguez two minutes from time handed Burnley victory over Fulham.
League Two will have a representative in the fourth round after Rotherham piled more misery on Championship strugglers Southampton with a 3-1 victory.
Arsenal's next generation gave a display of precocious talent in a 6-0 home win over Sheffield United, with Carlos Vela the star of the show.
Established first-teamer Nicklas Bendtner (31, 42) finished off clever assists from Vela and Aaron Ramsey to put the Gunners two up before Vela made it three (44) with a lovely curling effort.
The Mexican then grabbed his second by leaving Paddy Kenny on his backside before calmly slotting in his second (50) and 16-year-old Jack Wilshere got in on the act with the fifth (57). Fittingly, Vela had the last word by completing his hat-trick three minutes from time.

Manchester United and Liverpool both progressed safely - Sir Alex Ferguson's side beating Middlesbrough 3-1 while their big rivals saw off Crewe 2-1. Cristiano Ronaldo marked his first start of the season with the opener at Old Trafford when he headed in Ryan Giggs' corner (25).
Brad Jones kept Boro in contention with some fine saves before Adam Johnson shocked the home crowd by drawing the visitors level with a shot from the edge of the box (56).
But they found themselves a man down when Emanuel Pogatetz was shown a straight red card for a bad foul on Rodrigo Possebon, who was carried off the pitch with what looked a bad injury and Ryan Giggs and Nani scored late on.
Swansea emerged victorious in the most keenly-contested match of the evening with a 1-0 win over bitter rivals Cardiff.
Jordi Gomez grabbed the only goal of the game with a deflected free-kick which Peter Enckelman could not keep out (57).
Andy Robinson scored an injury-time winner as Leeds defeated fellow League One side Hartlepool 3-2 at Elland Road.
Daniel Agger opened the scoring at Anfield when he fired in a free-kick after 15 minutes. But Crewe showed they would be no pushovers by equalising through Michael O'Connor (25) after debutant keeper Diego Cavalieri had parried Calvin Zola's header.

There was to be no fairytale victory for the League One side, however, as Lucas headed in Jermaine Pennant's cross (58) for what proved the winner.
Sunderland escaped an upset to defeat League One strugglers Northampton 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Colin Larkin (20) opened the scoring and Luke Guttridge to make it two nine minutes from time.
Striker Anthony Stokes scored twice in the last four minutes - his second coming in injury time - but Sunderland had to play the additional 30 minutes with 10 men after Nyron Nosworthy went off injured with no more substitutes available.
Mark Hughes missed Northampton's first spot-kick and although Stokes hit the crossbar Leon Constantine was denied by Marton Fulop with the final kick.
It was the same story for Stoke as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Reading before coming through 4-3 in a shoot-out.
Stoke's Vincent Pericard (nine) and James Henry (penalty) traded first half goals before the Premier League side went ahead again through Mamady Sidibe (50) before Henry (75) scored his second. However, the youngster missed his penalty - as did Leroy Lita - in the shoot-out as Stoke came out on top.

KWYP City Run 2008

It's time for another exercise posting again. Well, basically this will be my next run assignment after laying low for this month. It's the Kwong Wah Yit Poh annual City Run 2008. I have heard about this run few years back but never have the chance to join. Actually I almost join last year but pulled out last minute due to no gang going with me. But since my ex-colleague was so keen into run recently, we basically took up whatever short run that's got to offer in Pg over the last few months.

I didn't registered this run as my ex-colleagues did the work for me. Up till now, I still haven't pay back the registration fee to my friend, so sorry to him. The run will flag off on 19th October 2008 at 730am, so it's around 1 month from now. It was stated as a 10km run but if you look at the map attached below which I print-screen from some other blog, the distance calculated from mapmyrun was only ~7km, so I'm not sure as to the exact distance.

I'm getting fatter and heavier over the years and ever since I left my old companies which provides gym and colleagues there which are always eager for run and sports, I have been a bit lazier. My 2 previous runs which were the Peace Run and Merdeka Run was not good, so I'm just praying hard that this run will be much better.
Finally, here are the details for the City Run 2008:

Event: City Run 2008

Organizer: Kwong Wah Yit Poh Press

Date: 19 October 2008 (Sunday)

Time: 730am starts

Venue: In Front of Prangin Mall (start and finish)

Wet Days Ahead

Even though the weather nowadays has become very unpredictable and climax change so quickly, no one can deny that talks of wet days are ringing around the corner again. Everytime come this year, people are anticipating the rainy days and constantly link with the Nine Emperors God festival for the Chinese while the Indian will tell you it's Deepavali coming. Whatever it is, better prepare the umbrella for the day and travel safe. Motor riders like me will be praying that it doesn't rain during the journey to and back from work...haha!

If The World Without Internet

With the advance of technology and the world without border, internet easily has become the basic necessity among our working society especially those frequent users that need it as networking and communication medium. have you ever imagine if one day you are back to the old days where internet haven't exists? Or perhaps young generation have never ever experience living without internet just like during our grandparents day when car is such a stranger word to them.
For once, I experienced the situation of no internet access today. It was moments after lunch when suddenly my office network server was down for some unknown reason. It was quite common for my office experiencing network problem but after almost an hour and there's still no internet access, it was obvious the problem is not temporary as expected.

Being an IT guy that deals with programming, internet has been my main source of information. Whenever I have doubts or met with dead end in my coding, Uncle Google is always my reference. Also I admitted that I'm not that hardworking type of person that work non-stop, so while I need to take a break from work and relax a bit, I will surf the net to break free. And of course time to time my gal is there to me to chat with.
It's so frustrating being without internet the whole afternoon and evening. No reference, no gf to chat with, no surfing and no email...arghhhh. Many people from the office left early as the result of the network server down. So, productivity affected and progress impacted...What a day...

Interesting Salvo Present from Tun to Paklah

Given the extend of our current political situation in Malaysia where it has become a major soap opera among our very own citizens as well as foreign media. The ruling collision, the independant NGOs, the oppositions surely have things to say every now and then firing salvo against each other. I keep on telling my friends that this ongoing development is even better and more exciting and more unpredictable compared to HongKong's TVB drama.

Was reading Tun Mahathir's blog (http://test.chedet.com/che_det/) when I came across his latest post with 1 paragraph as follow:

"Actually the present leader's involvement with graft, his support for his son's business, the power he gives to his son-in-law, his well-known sleeping habits, indecision, lack of ability to handle problems, sudden withdrawal of oil subsidy, cancellation of the bridge to Singapore, wasting money on the unused RM800 million (Johor Baru) Customs, Immigration and Quarantine building, cancellation of the railway double tracking and electrification project, the monsoon cup and lots more are what turned the voters against BN."

Well, what can I say? I can't really help but agree on what Tun has got to say...You do your own judgement out there...

EPL Action This Weekend 20/21 Sep 08

After the midweek opening of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup 1st round matches, it's back to the domestic league this week. Gameweek 5 will see my favourite club Arsenal travelling to Reebok Stadium to face Bolton. After their heroics last weekend where they trashed Blakcburn at E-wood Park 4-0 courtesy of Adebayor scoring his hattrick, Arsenal were brought back down to earth with a 1-1 draw in the Champions League with Dynamo Kiew. How they pick themself up remains to be seen but on paper everyone will predict them to pick up maximum points from this trip.

Currently sitting 3rd on the table after 4 games with 9 points, they are up against Bolton side sitting at 13th places with 4 points. Personally, I feel that Arsenal needs to win this game in order to keep up with pace setters Chelsea and Liverpool in order not to slip up and trail behind with a bigger gap so early in the season. However Arsenal also need to learn the lesson from last season where they led for so long throughout the season only to finished 3rd across the line. With 2 away games played so far, Arsenal have won 1 and lost 1 and this is a bit worry sign for me. Coupled with undesirable results against Bolton in recent years, I really do hope that the players can focus on their game and play to their true ability. Let's hope Fabregas and co. don't let us down and keep the free-scoring team going on strong. C'mon Arsenal !!!

D-Day for KLSE as 1000 points looming

Normally when you see the header of this post, the first thing that comes to your mind will be that the thoughts that KLSE will hit 1000 points and go beyond this critical checkpoint. However as much as I hoped for, this will not be the case !!! In fact it's on the opposite direction :(

When the KLSE market closed yesterday, it slumped another 9+ points to settled at 1002.99, the lowest ever in recent times. If you look at the trading hall screen, you will see all red signs and blue chips as well as other big play makers are all at trading loses.

My friend who I treated as my siffu in share trading keeps on saying that it's a very good time to prepare the cash and buy. I must agreed that there are many tempting share out there now trading at very low prices such as Genting and Public Bank. Deutsche Bank recent report predicted that KLSE will hit the target of 975 points, coupled with yesterday's Dow Jones fell another 450+ points, our market today sure will fall further. Therefore, personally for me it's still not the right time just yet to enter the market as it will further slides to hit 1000 points and fall below it. That is remains to be seen, but one thing for sure, the market is going to be tough as long as our political drama stays on...

Hot Hot Day...Arghhh

After last week's heavy rain and wet days, it was back to the normal hot days this week so far. Today was extremely hot outside under the sun. My parents always told me that working community like me always stayed in the office won't feel the heat since we are always in the air-cond environment. This is exactly what I don't like since my immune system is quite weak and I do get sick easily. It's always the last thing I want to happens on me coz by then my parents and gf will starts to worry about me.
Today was one of those days. In the morning, everything is still normal and I'm still ok. But come lunch, we went out to Genting (behind Hamid Khan) to have our lunch. It was so damn hot, and although I didnt know the exact temperature, I'm sure that it was at least 35 celcius out there. Once I'm back to office, my flu started. Being sitted at the strongest air-cond flow place doesn't help and my flu quickly developed into a serious one. The whole afternoon was not OK for me and even after my tea-break, my flu is still the same.
I just keep on until I went to badminton hoping that I will get better after the sweating. Right now back home, my flu is still there but after taking my pill, it was considered under control. Hopefully my running nose will go away when I wakes up tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed...

16 Sep: Malaysia Day or Reformation Day

It's 16 Sep 2008. Today is the day where our country Malaysia was formed. It was the day Sabah and Sarawak joined Malaya while Singapore left the country to become an independant nation, thus forming Malaysia. However, what people is focusing today will be whether Opposition Collition Pakatan Rakyat are able to form the new government from the current government led by Barisan National. Opposition leader Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim publically declared that he already have the enough number of MP to crossover from BN, enabling the opposition to take over and form the new government. However, Prime Minister Dato Seri Ahmad Badawi claimed that he will not meet Dato Seri Anwar until the list of crossover MP to be made public...
The turn of events has led to foreign media closely monitoring our political situation while our share market has fallen sharply to closed at just above 1000 point today. Expect the saga to continue as Anwar has given Abdullah 2 weeks to handle the issue and ensure a smooth transition. So...more to come...sit tight and hold back!

Mariah Carey - Bye Bye lyrics

I was a Mariah Carey fans since I was a little boy. There are many songs from this powerful vocal diva that I loved listen to and even sometimes will sing along while listening even though my voice is just average. That was more than 10 years ago. However in recent years, Mariah had gone a bit of different style where she is more of following the hip hop style and teaming up with other rappers in her songs which is not my kind of taste. Therefore, slowly my attention towards her had diverted a bit to other singers. But her latest offering "Bye Bye" from her latest album e=Mc2 is really a bit like her old self. I really do like this song, the lyrics are meaningful and touching...have a look :
This is for my peoples who just lost somebody
Your best friend, your baby, your man, or your lady
Put your hand way up high
We will never say bye (no, no, no)
Mamas, daddies, sisters, brothers, friends and cousins
This is for my peoples who lost their grandmothers
Lift your head to the sky 'cause we will never say bye
As a child there were them timesI didn't get it but you kept me in line
I didn't know why you didn't show up sometimes
It's something more than saying "I miss you"
But when we talked too
All them grown folk things
Separation brings
You never let me know it
You never let it show because
You loved me and obviously
There's so much more left to say
If you were with me today face to face
[Chorus:]
I never knew I could hurt like this
And everyday life goes on like
"I wish I could talk to you for awhile"
"I wish I could find a way try not to cry
"As time goes by
And soon as you reach a better place
Still I'll give the whole world to see your face
And I'm right here next to you
It feels like you gone too soon
The hardest thing to do is say bye bye
(Bye Bye [3x])
Bye bye
And you never got the chance to see how good I've done
And you never got to see me back at number one
I wish that you were here to celebrate together
I wish that we could spend the holidays together
I remember when you used to tuck me in at night
With the Teddy Bear you gave to me that I held so tight
I thought you were so strong
That you can make it through whatever
It's so hard to accept the fact you're gone forever
[Chorus]
(bye bye bye bye bye bye [3x])
Bye bye
This is for my peoples who just lost somebody
Your best friend, your baby, your man, or your lady
Put your hand way up high
We will never say bye (no, no, no)
Mamas, daddies, sisters, brothers, friends and cousins
This is for my peoples who lost their grandfather
Lift your head to the sky 'cause we will never say bye
[Chorus]
Great song Mariah...hope to hear more tune like this from you in the future...cheers!

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival

Today is the 15th day of the Eight month of year in the Chinese calendar, and of course it's the mid-autumn festival. Whenever talk about this, for sure you will think about mooncake and surely the colourful tanglung for kids right? So I'm taking this opportunity to wish everyone out there whether you are or aren't celebrating this festival this year "Happy Mid-Autumn Festival", may you have a nice day, a happy celebration, healthly and joyful :)
The other day when my gf brought over a box of mooncakes over for my parents, they are visibly so happy. Even though the price of mooncakes are so expensive with mooncake makers earning so many folds for each mooncake sold and I personally felt that mooncakes are so sweet, nevertheless this once a year food will definitely put a smile on our face and for us younger generation to show care and respects for our elders. Too bad, my brother and sister are not back here, else we can have a family gathering...haha.

Arsenal New Season 08/09 Home Jersey

Arsenal's 08/09 home jersey was a bit different this season around. Previously it was red in colour with the white sleeves but this time around, it was all red and only the top half of the sleeve was white. I have friend who's going over to Thailand come tomorrow and he can help to get the Arsenal replica jersey which looks almost like the real one for only RM35. The original price of the Nike Arsenal jersey which I went to checked 2 days ago at Queensbay Mall was priced at RM259 !!!
And after watching Arsenal young guns went rampant and trashed Blackburn at Ewood Park 4-0 yesterday with Adebayor scoring his hattrick and Van Persie got the other goal, I was really tempted to get the replica jersey myself, but thinking that I already got 1 from last season, I might as well control myself and not spend for this season's one. Furthermore, it's coming towards end of the year now and many wedding invitations round the corner, I do believe this is necessary. But deep inside my heart, Arsenal remains my club and I will support them no matter how and cheers for them hoping they will at least land themselves a silverware this season...Go go go Arsenal !!!

Anyone got these songs?

I'm searching for these 2 songs (陈慧恬 - 绯闻女友) and also (王明丽 - 一分钟) for quite some time, but found none from the web that provides link to download or even listen online for the full song. Both songs are from Malaysia and I really love the songs ever since I heard it from the radio. If anyone knew any links to these songs, please be kind enough and let me know ya. Thanks a lot !!! :)
