I do not plan to watch this year's Malaysia grand prix race in the first place this year, as the race starts at 5pm instead of the traditional 2pm in a hope to receive more viewers. My original plan was to go for my usual relax hike with my dear but as we were preparing for the hike, the rain came and spoilt our plan, leaving me with no choice but to stay at home and watch the race. Jenson Button has won the Malaysian Grand Prix, after time to restart the stopped race simply ran out. The Grand Prix was halted after 33 laps due to a remarkable rainstorm which, as the two hour time limit neared ever closer, prevented a restart. With the final results being taken back by a lap, Nick Heidfeld took second for BMW with Toyota's Timo Glock third.
Button's second win from two races this year confirms a 100% wins to starts ratio for the new Brawn GP team; starting from pole position, the Englishman found himself fourth after the first corners as he swapped positions with Nico Rosberg, as the German's Williams launched off the grid to slide down the inside of Turn 1.
A great start also by Fernando Alonso saw the Spaniard leapfrog from ninth on the grid to third by the first corner, before being repassed by Button at the end of the lap. Heikki Kovalainen became a first-lap casulty once again, flying off the track and into the gravel at Turn 5 in a similar way to Kimi Räikkönen three years ago. Also out on the first lap of the race was BMW's Robert Kubica, who had reported engine problems on the warm-up lap before bogging down at the start.
Rosberg and Trulli continued to lead until the first stops, where the heavier-fuelled Button was able to make great use of his quicker Brawn by staying out longer and taking the lead when emerging from the pits.
With rain having threatened all weeked, Räikkönen and Ferrari were the first to jump by fitting the car with extreme wet tyres when needing to pit for fuel; with no drops falling for a number of laps, the Finn soon plummeted from fifth to fifteenth. By the time the rain did come, the 2007 champion was already one and a half minutes behind the leaders, with his tyres desroyed.
The majority of the field pitted for extreme wet tyres initially, as the rain appeared to stop many drivers returned to the pits to fit intermediate Bridgestones - just as the most intense shower began. As the pit crews refitted extreme wets, four cars' loss of control resulted in retirements from the Grand Prix as Buemi, Vettel and both Force Indias spun and retired.
The rain intensified and and visibility decreased, leaving eveyrbody helpless amid the colossal spray; Nico Rosberg crawled back to the grid at speeds of a mere 30km/h (18mph) as the red flags were thrown, with Lewis Hamilton completing the fastest last lap in three and a half minutes!
The race had not reached three quarter distance at the time of its stoppage, so half points were awarded as the conditions failed to improve enough to show the ten minute board within the permitted two hour time limit. Button took his second win from two races for Brawn, as Timo Glock - who had reached second place - fell behind Nick Heidfeld on the standard one-lap countback for stopped races.
Hmm, this is the latest as well as the nearest run that we have in Penang for many months. There was one last weekend but it was about 6km, so this sounds like a better one to test your endurance power and stamina. I heard from my hiking gang that there will be a few runs in other states notably the Bidor Run as well as the KL marathon coming up. If you wants to flex your muscles, this is the chance.
