Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel wins Malaysian GP...FINALLY :)

Finally, Vettel wins !!! I truly felt that he deserved a win after the dissapointments in the first 2 races where he should have won as well. Yesterday's Malaysian GP, he led from start to finish, did nothing wrong. It was a superb drive from him, a very good race :)

Our Malaysia backed Lotus team however did quite badly given that they were behind both Hispania HRT as well as Virgin Racing team...need to work harder man...

Sebastian Vettel led Mark Webber in a 1-2 finish for Red Bull at the Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday, claiming an overdue victory after mechanical failures cost him wins in the opening two Formula One races.

Vettel passed pole-sitter Webber in the run to the first corner and held that lead throughout, with Nico Rosberg finishing third for Mercedes as forecast rain stayed away from the Sepang circuit.

Renault's Robert Kubica was fourth and Force India's Adrian Sutil took fifth.

McLaren pair Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button fought their way through the field from rear grid positions to finish sixth and eighth respectively, either side of Ferrari's Felipe Massa.



Massa leads the championship by two points from Vettel and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, who would have topped the standings but for an engine failure on the penultimate lap as he attempted an ambitious passing move on Button.

Red Bull's victory Sunday meant it was the first time in 20 years that three different teams had won the opening three races of a championship.



The closeness of the competition was reflected in the standings, with the top seven drivers separated by only nine points.

Toro Rosso's Jaime Alguersuari and Williams' Nico Hulkenberg were ninth and 10th respectively, with both earning their first F1 points.

Mercedes' Michael Schumacher retired on the 10th lap with a wheelnut failure, Williams' Rubens Barrichello was slow off the start line and never in contention for the points, and Sauber's Pedro de la Rosa was affected by an engine failure on the installation lap.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the state had arranged for a few selected Maybank branches to be open over the weekend for the convenience of the recipients.

“From 9am to 4pm, your children can bring you to the bank to cash the vouchers. The branches opened are stated in the vouchers.

“Those who want to charge us for corruption (because of this programme) can come see us there - all our ADUNs will be waiting,” he said.

The senior citizens only needed to bring their MyKad and the vouchers to the bank to collect their money. Families of recipients who have passed away can collect the money next month.

F1 Fever hit Malaysia

Dredging of Penang Port Channel a PRIORITY under the 10th Malaysia Plan

The dredging of the Penang Port Channel that had been shelved during the mid-term review of the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) will be made a priority under the 10th Malaysia Plan.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said on Thursday, April 1, the dredging which had been estimated to cost RM1 billion under the 9MP would enable larger vessels to call at Penang.

Speaking at the official unveiling of the brand transformation of Penang Port Sdn Bhd (PPSB) here, Muhyiddin said the government fully recognised that the significance of the deepening of the channel.

"This would complement the RM1.1 billion investment pledged under PPSB's expansion and business improvement plan from 2008 to 2012 to cater for the development brought on by the Northern Corridor Economic Region [NCER], thus enhancing its attractiveness as the port of call for the northern region and possibly the Bay of Bengal. Therefore the proposed dredging project will be made a priority under the 10MP," he said.

Muhyiddin said PPSB's rebranding should set a higher bar in terms of consistent service delivery and promise more to its clients.

He stressed that brands are now at the heart of the intangible value that investors place on companies, which now find it paramount to re-examine their brands in terms of relevancy to consumers and the changing marketplace.

He added that due to the tremendous impact that rebranding a company could have, it was critical to take the clients through the process with great sensitivity in order to avoid alienating old customers, while aiming to attract new business prospects.

"There is no magic formula to rebranding however, and it involves strategic planning, memorable visuals and personal interactions, all of which must speak in unison for a customer to place full trust and invest their emotions in what is on offer.

"Therefore it is really important for PPSB's rebranding exercise to come up with a brand personality that it can commit to. Commitment translates into performance accountability, with clear rewards and consequences for deliverables," he added.

He said any port which dared to dream of regional success had to seize a window of opportunity and PPSB's rebranding and transformation exercise was very timely.

He said the economics of geography in terms of the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand growth triangle favoured Penang's high economic density and shorter distance to markets.

He called on the PPSB and Penang Port Commission to work together to reposition the port and take advantage of its location to insert itself into the global production chain.
