THE federal government's budget for 2010 will focus on helping the economy recover from a global recession, deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Husin said.
"We are not out of the woods even though there are indications of some light at the end of the tunnel. We hope the global economy will show signs of recovery soon," he said at a media briefing in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
The government has held talks with several focus groups and it is assessing the economy's condition and how it's affecting the people, especially the poor and those in rural areas.
It was also still early to say if the government would cut taxes further.Yesterday, he announced that the IRB collected RM50.7 billion in gross income so far this year, a 1.1 per cent growth from last year.
