Polystyrene Ban => More Expensive Food

Penangites may have to brace for yet another round of price increases in hawker food.

But if it’s any consolation, the price hike will only take effect in April next year once the state government bans the use of polystyrene packaging material in 103 council food courts and complexes.

A random check with hawkers revealed that many of them would pass on the higher cost of plastic food containers to customers.

So what do you think? A good move? Well, I personally feel this move has it's own pros and cons. The report was saying that each customer will be charged extra 30 cents when rule comes into effect. Let's hope that this move can bring more good than bad to us...
