1Malaysia songs will soon go on air

1MALAYSIA songs, in different rhythms, from a slow and melodious to energetic marches, will soon fill the airwaves.

Six songs, themed “1Malaysia, People First, Performance Now” were picked from 341 entries in a month-long contest in May.
They were sent in by well-known composers as well as newcomers.
Of the six songs which were picked, two were by Nik Nizam Jaafar, with lyrics by Lokman Ghani.

There were also two songs composed by Datuk Mokhzani Ismail of Radio Televisyen Malaysia’s music department, with lyrics by Chuari Selamat.

The other two songs were from Datuk Suhaimi Mohd Zain (lyrics by Syed Indra Syed Omar, or Siso) and the Lim Kok Wing Sound and Music Design Academy Sdn Bhd.
Each of the six songs earned their composers and lyricists RM8,000 and certificates, presented to them yesterday by Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim. The ministry had organized the competition.
Rais said the songs were meant to soothe the mood of the rakyat and stimulate their sentiments.
He said copies of the songs would be distributed to the various departments and communities nationwide.

So what are we going to have after this? 1Malaysia food? 1Malaysia day? 1Malaysia mascot? I'm gonna faint...
