Ever since the government announced that the price of the sugar will be increased by 20 cent per kilo, they have again and again reminded the food and drink operators not to raise the price of their goods especially those canteen operators in the school. To me, this is really nonsense! Why in the first place they raise the price of their own controlled price item and then ask others not to raise price? The reason given for the price increase is because government wants to promote healthy living with less sugar, but is this truly the reason and the right timing for the execution???
On Monday morning, me and my colleagues went to the coffee shop behind our office for breakfast, and the price of the drinks remains. However, yesterday when we went over to a nearby mamak stall for breakfast, all the drinks have been increased by 10 cents in price. What is going on??!!!! 20 cents increase per kilo, and we are charged 10 cents increase per cup/glass ???? I believe this is not the first and only case. Many operators are taking advantages to increase their price in our current yo-yo economy situation...
Maybe it's time to boycott that mamak stall for their drinks? hmm...
