'Line Not So Clear' At Nasi Kandar Outlet...alamak !!!

GEORGE TOWN, June 2 (Bernama) -- A dispute over the rotation of management at the Line Clear Nasi Kandar Restaurant here has forced the Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP) to issue an ultimatum to the four partners.

MPPP Licensing Division director Azman Sirun has asked them to resolve their dispute in two weeks or face eviction as three of the partners had set up stalls in a back lane near the restaurant in Jalan Penang, causing clutter and unhygienic conditions.

He said the MPPP was informed that one of the four partners had refused to abide by an arrangement that had been in force since the 1950s whereby the partners would take turns annually to operate the outlet.

"A meeting was arranged between the MPPP Licensing Division and the traders on June 28, 2013. However, no understanding was reached in determining the rotation of management.

"We wrote to them on Dec 23, 2013, advising them to find a solution and submit the documents on the arrangement among them," he told reporters after a meeting with three of the partners here today.

Azman said that if the four partners did not come to an agreement in two weeks, the Licensing Division would issue a notice of eviction so as to reorganise the hawker activity there in accordance with the by-laws of the MPPP.

He said the stalls set up by the other partners at the back lane had resulted in clutter and unhygienic conditions.
