Every part of the world has its own distinctive folk toys. All are peculiar to the places where they emerged as well as to the people living there. The style and character of folk toys varies from region to region, and, from country to country.
Unique folk toys are found in every part of Japan too and among the most typical are kokeshi, or wooden dolls.
Lucky for us here in Penang, we have been given such opportunity to view these special dolls as the Japanese Kokeshi dolls have been flown in from Japan just to be exhibited at the Penang State Museum for all to view from 28th February till 30th April. The exhibition of kokeshi dolls consists of 74 varying styles and characters which have been created by over 50 artists.
So, if you like wooden folk toys, or if you have free time to spend or wanna find a location or place to visit and walk together with your loves one, why not consider this for it might be a peaceful and relax walk :)
