A GRAND parade to celebrate the 1,049th birthday of Mazu, the Goddess of the Sea, Penang on the 17th of April 2009 7pm.
The four hours grand procession will have six floats, two dragon dances, several lion dances and chingay performances.
The parade will start from Muntri Street to Penang Road to Chulia Street and right down to Weld Quay. The parade will then proceed through Jalan C.Y. Choy, Jalan Gurdwara, Lebuh Macallum, Lebuh McNair, Magazine Road, Penang Road, Transfer Road and Jalan Sri Bahari before returning to the Thean Hou Temple on Muntri Street.
100-year-old chariot from Hean Hou Temple and Ma Chor Poh Deity Devotees Association will feature two 3m-tall statues of Mazu’s guardian generals in the procession.
