Reuters: No plans to make ringgit float

MALAYSIA has no plans to re-examine the country’s managed float of its ringgit currency, says new Second Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Husni Mohamad Hanadzlah today.

“The ringgit managed float mechanism is well in place to protect (us) from fluctuations and I see no reason for us to re-look at this at the moment,” Ahmad told a press conference.

Ahmad was appointed to the post last week by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and is the most senior official in charge of running economic affairs on a day-to-day basis.
