Blackberry Storm coming our way...

THE BlackBerry Storm will soon be available in the Malaysian market, offered via the nation's top two telecommunications companies (telcos) - Celcom and Maxis.

The touchscreen Storm is widely viewed as BlackBerry's answer to the popular iPhone from Apple.

Celcom has been airing teaser ads since end March, and held a sneak preview for the media of the new smartphone from Research In Motion (RIM) in Sepang yesterday. Maxis, meanwhile, announced pre-booking of the Storm at its website from today until April 24.

The Storm's price tag from Celcom for individual customers is RM1,699 (with a 12-month RM148 per month contract) or RM1,399 with a monthly commitment of RM250.

The smartphone will be available from Maxis at RM2,199, if purchased with a Value Plus 150 postpaid plan and a BlackBerry service package that comes with a 24-month contract.

The device, without a contract, will retail at RM2,499.
