Pay more for roti canai???

Owners of mamak restaurants have cautioned that roti canai prices may go up if the 100 per cent increase in levy on foreign workers is implemented.

Already, they claimed that there has been a more than 30 per cent drop in their business in the last few months due to the economic slowdown.

Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI) president Datuk K.K. Eswaran, brieifing reporters on the restaurant owners' woes in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, said the situation could easily become worse if the doubling in foreign workers' levy takes effect on May 1.

In the recent mini-Budget, Najib had announced that foreign workers, except for those in the plantation, construction and domestic sectors, would have their levy doubled from RM1,800 per year currently.

Eswaran said such an increase would be very detrimental "and the higher cost of doing business will have to be passed to customers.

Hmm....now I'm wondering how much they will increase the price of the roti canai if the levy really comes into effect...probably rm1 per piece of roti kosong next time? If I order 2 pieces, then mah rm3 including my teh tarik? Haizzz....

it is one of my favourite breakfast previously. My one cent here, if the price really goes up, just bear in mind that roti canai is really oily and no good for health. Will you still hv it as breakfast when we knew that breakfast is the most important meal in our life ? :p

Haha...first of all, it's almost everybody's favourite. A nice roti canai with a warm teh tarik...yummy!
We are Malaysians...so roti canai and nasi lemak is a norm to us even though it's not really healthy...
