The Final Showdown, the Final Act of the Final Grand Slam of the Year 2008

There you have it...the moment you have all been waiting for after much delay and big names dropping out along the way. After this morning's women's single final where Serena Williams beats Jelena Jankovic 6-4 7-5 for the title en route to become the new world number 1, it's all now down to the final match - men's single final.

The 2nd semi-final was resumed late yesterday (or I should say early morning today) between Andy Murray of Britian versus world number 1 Rafa Nadal of Spain with Murray leading 2 sets to love and trailing 2-3 in the third with Nadal breaking on serve. Nadal eventually won that set to reduced the deficits but Murray ensured that there's not much of a comeback by the King of Clay by claiming the 4th set 6-4 to set up the final showdown against Swiss Roger Federer.
From the post interview that I read from the official website, Murray said that even though he has only less than 24 hours of rest compared to Federer who has 2 days of rest, he will give his 110% in the final. It was his first ever grand slam final appearance. I did watched both men in action during their semi final matches and I must say both are also equally in their top form. It will be an interesting final for sure if both continue their semi-final performances. I want my idol Federer to win his first slam of the year and silent up those critics out there but credits have to given to Murray for going this far.

The final will starts 5pm local time today (supposed to be Sunday US time but everything was delayed and rescheduled due to the rain interrupted semi-final 2), which means 5am in Malaysia Tuesday morning !!! Hopefully I can sleep early tonight and then wakes up to watch the match tomorrow...hahaha...fingers crossed for Federer...
