Rossi wins 2008 MotoGP Championship ...Hooray !!!

Valentino Rossi has won the 2008 MotoGP Championship with his 8th Grand Prix at the Motegi circuit this afternoon. Coming into this round, Rossi has a 87 points lead against 2007 defending champion Casey Stoner. Starting 4th from the grid, Rossi has made a relatively fine start to stay at 5th position after the first few corners behind Pedrosa, Stoner, Hayden and Lorenzo. Cutting his way one by one in his usual style, Rossi overtook Stoner for the lead on lap 14 and never looked back.
My favourite MotoGP idol eventually finished the race almost 2 seconds ahead of Stoner across the line while Pedrosa had to fend off Lorenzo to claim the last podium place at 3rd position. Hence, with only 3 races to go that offered 75 maximum points to the winners, Rossi with 92 points lead over Stoner currently will therefore claim back the MotoGP title he lost 2 years ago for his 6th MotoGP champion title and his 8th world title overall.
It was truly a moment to celebrate and the lad fully deserved the title. Even though he didn't won the title for 2006 and 2007, I never doubted him and will always admired his style and skills on the circuit. At 29, he might be the veteran compared to all those early 20s title rivals, but given the same bike with the same spec setting, I'm sure Rossi will come out top, VERY SURE !!! His Yamaha might not have the pace at the straight compared to Honda or the horse power of Ducati, but with Rossi's superb skills, Yahama stand on top of the engine manufacturer top of the pill for the constructor championship.
CONGRATS to Rossi !!! CONGRATS to Yamaha !!!

Attached above is the MotoGP championship standing after today's Motegi Japan Grand Prix with only 3 races to go. Next stop - Australian Grand Prix at Philip Island in 7 days time.
